Bratislava's cocktail heritage dates back to the early 20th century when the city, then known as Pressburg, was a cultural hub of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The interwar period saw the rise of grand hotel bars serving international cocktails.
After decades of limited innovation during the communist era, the post-1989 period brought a revival of cocktail culture. The real transformation began in the 2010s, as local bartenders started incorporating traditional Slovak spirits into contemporary cocktail programs.
